Along the Dnieper river, you will also have unique off the beaten path experiences such as a Zaporozhye Cossack encounter, and you will taste the local food prepared by a family who lives in the rural Dnieper Delta area. Day 1: Kiev
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Arrival in Kiev and transfer to the ship for a 19:00 embarkation and dinner. 

Day 2: Kiev

Kiev, the capital of Ukraine, is situated on the banks of the rivers Dnieper and Dniestar. The city has recently celebrated its 1000-year anniversary making it one of the oldest cities in this region. With a population of over 2,5 million inhabitants Kiev is the center for business, education and the arts, being home of 18 universities, 7 theaters, and 15 major museums, as well as many significant historical monuments such as "The Golden Port", St. Sofia Church, and the Church of Berestoli, where the founder of Moscow, Jurij Dolgoruki is buried.
Morning city tour: Get to know this historic city during your morning city tour which, among others, features stops at the well-known churches of St. Sofia and the gargantuan statue of Mother Ukraine which stands high on a hill outside of the city overlooking the river as she keeps watch over her children.
The remainder of the day is free for you to explore on your own or to join an optional excursion to a Ukranian National Choir Performance. All meals on board.

Day 3: Kanev
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Your first port of call during your Dnieper cruise is the small city of Kanev. In the morning you will enjoy a walking tour of the city: Your tour features a visit to the birthplace of Taras Shevchenko, Ukraine's famous poet and painter. His achievements in the arts made him a national hero. In the afternoon, there is an optional excursion to Kolhoz - Farm. We depart at 4:00 pm. All meals on board.

Day 4: Zaporozhye
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Zaporozhye is a small town full of historical monuments. It was founded in 1770 with the construction of the Alexander Fortress, which was built on the left bank of the Dnieper, across the island of Hortica. Zaporozhye is also world renown as the home to the Zaporo Cossacks!
After breakfast you will enjoy tour by motor-coach including stops at the Hortica Island and the museum of Zaporo Cossacks. We depart at 3:00 pm. While sailing, you can enjoy on board lectures and activities or partake in an optional Cossack Show. All meals on board.

Day 5: Kherson
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Arrive in Kherson, our popular "green station stop" along the Dnieper river. We will take a boat trip along the Dnieper Delta. The ship departs the area a noon and many onboard lectures and activities are offered. All meals on board.

Day 6: Sevastopol
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Sevastopol is famous in history as the site of the tragic and bloody Crimea War of the 1850's. French, English and Turkish forces attacked the city and the battle was immortalized in both poetry and prose. One of the Russian defenders was young Lev Tolstoy. The city has developed to an important naval port. In the morning, we will have a city tour of Sevastopol: The highlight of your tour is the visit to the Panorama Museum and its unique piece of art entitled the "Panorama of the Sevastopol Battle", featuring a three dimensional circular piece of art representing a 24-hour period in the defense of the city during the Crimean War. It is the world's largest artwork of its kind. The afternoon is free to explore on your own or enjoy an option excursion to Bakhchisaray. In the evening, an optional concert of the Black Sea Ensemble is offered. All meals on board.

Day 7: Sevastopol - Yalta

This morning our ship sails on to Yalta. When we arrive there will be a full day tour of the area including a visit to the Livadia Palace. We set sail at 7:00 pm. All meals on board.

Day 8: Odessa
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
We arrive in Odessa at 2:00 pm and will have a city tour in the afternoon. Your tour leads you to all major attractions such as the Opera House and the famous and unique Potemking Stairs which rise 460 feet from the sea to the upper levels of the city. There will be an option Cultural Performance in the evening. All meals on board.

Day 9: Odessa
On Board the M/S Taras Shevchenko
Odessa is a truly beautiful port city with over one million inhabitants. Points of interest include the Museum of Architecture and the Museum of Western & Oriental Art and many more. Today you will have the full day to explore this bustling city on your own. You can choose an optional tour of the Fine Arts Museum in the afternoon. This evening we will enjoy a gala Captain's Farewell Dinner. All meals on board.

Day 10: Odessa

Disembark after breakfast. Transfer to the airport.

Cruise Ship Description
This magnificent motor ship, built in 1991 in Germany and renovated as recently as 2006, is one of the best ships sailing the Dnieper River and Black Sea. The MS Taras Shevchenko is rated the highest river-sea class , built to meet the most stringent international safety standards with all modern amenities. All cabins are outward facing and are equipped with internal phones, air-conditioners, refrigerators, private bathrooms with showers and radios. Cabins on Low Deck have 2 portholes, Main Deck cabins have windows that do not open and all cabins on higher decks feature windows that can be opened. Double sized Suite cabins feature a living room and separate bedroom and bathrooms with bath tubs. Spacious Public areas and amenities on board include a sauna, Hairdressing salon, first-aid, post and Souvenir Shop.
